About ENVIS Center on Hazardous Wastes
The ENVIS Centre on "Hazardous Wastes" was established in 1993 at National Environmental Engineeering Research Institute (NEERI), Nagpur with the financial assistance from the Ministry of Environment , Forests & Climate Change, Government of India. The Centre is functioning as a partner in the Environmental Information System (ENVIS) network spread all over the country, with the focal point at the Ministry of Environment , Forests & Climate Change (MoEF&CC), New Delhi.
The major topics covered / to be covered by the ENVIS Centre at NEERI on the thematic area are legislations, regulations and policies in the field of hazardous waste management, emerging technologies for hazardous waste management, important national/international activities/projects/developments, information resources (websites, journals/books and databases) and the organized/forthcoming events (conferences/workshops/training programmes etc.). The MoEF&CC provides a recurring grant every year depending on the availability of funds at the centre.
